Show More This passage is very easy for children to understand because it talks about something that they are very familiar with, their body. The version written in "The Message" is really worth reading as it brings it to life in a contemporary way. When you are a member of the family of God, it means that we all have parts to play so that the body can be complete. One part of the family of God is no good without the other. This passage aims to show quite comically that one part is no more important than the other. It goes on to say that we are only significant because we are part of the body. On our own we are nothing. This is how the church (God’s Family) is supposed to function together. Not allowing children to play their part in the body is to deny this truth straight away. Also, anyone in God’s family that just goes along to get their spiritual top up each Sunday misses the joy of finding their own place in the family. This is something that children can understand as they see they have a place in their own family.
