Show More This must have been a very confusing time for the disciples, first Jesus dies and then He comes back to life and then He disappears before their eyes again. Jesus told them again that He would send the Holy Spirit, who would give them the power to tell everyone about Him. They didn’t know what to do but wait and see what happened. It was an important time for them, a test of their faith and their belief in the things that Jesus had taught all this time. The fact that they waited and didn’t disperse and give up was an indication that they were true followers of Jesus. Then suddenly everything changed, wind blew, flames came out of nowhere and they started to speak in different languages. People around thought they were drunk. This was a fulfillment of prophecy of Joel and the beginning of the Church as we know it today. It was a promise come true from Jesus and a presence of God that is now within all of us who are Christians. It is a comfort to know we are never alone and like Peter, the Holy spirit gives us a boldness to speak and direction to our lives. It so impacted people that 3000 people came to know Christ that day. The spirit came to witness about Jesus and all He had done. The Holy spirit is an important part of a Christian life and is the living God within us. It was a testament then and still should be today that Jesus is alive and a guiding force in our daily lives.
