Acts 16

The Jailer had a good job, respectable, well paid, well trained, able to defend himself and would have had power over many prisoners. We can spend our whole life training, learning and preparing for jobs, careers, a path in life and one day realize that it’s not fulfilling. Think if we spent that much time preparing for the race that God has for us how fulfilling that would be. When the Jailer realized that the doors were open, he thought the prisoners were gone, he decided that he may as well kill himself - how little did his life mean when he failed in his job. When Silas and Paul
called out to him to stop him from killing himself he realized that he was lacking something they had. His question was "what do I have to do to be saved, to really live?". His life changed from that day on. Paul's response was that if you put your trust in Jesus, then you will live as you were meant to! How powerful a promise is that? It is something we all are looking for. It doesn’t mean that all you have learned so far in life God cannot be used - but it is important to run the right race.
