Bodyworx: Week 4

What are you going to do with it?

This resource provides you with a lesson plan, songs, activities to teach this lesson effectively, with opportunities for the children to be active in the learning process. Aim: To teach the children that God has given them gifts and talents. To teach the children that we have a choice to waste our talents, to use them for ourselves or to use them for his glory.

Bible Text: Matthew 25: 14 - 30

Background Notes: This parable speaks of the importance of using our gifts wisely or we may lose everything. The third servant saw no point in trying to use the talent that his master had given him. He did nothing with it and in the end he lost everything. If we don't take the opportunities that God brings our way to use the gifts He has given us , we also miss out on the blessings. God gives us differing gifts , and some seem more important or more expensive or more popular. In the end what matters is what you do with it. God never demands from people what they are not capable of giving. And if we use our gifts, it will mean more responsibility and more to do. The man who had the littlest talent, felt it wasn't much and wasn't worth doing anything with, but God would rather we do something and fail than to never try at all. In life the only way to keep the talents that God has given us is to use them for what they were intended for. Anything else and they will be lost.

You Will Need: TEACHING TIME: Props for Teaching Time (See Teaching Time for suggested costumes for drama), Photocopy Memory Verse for each group, Butchers Paper and textas for Graffiti wall, Resources needed for small group time.

Professor Von Vonahan comes in ready to create the other body parts. The Professor finds that the head is upset and jealous. He is not feeling very good about himself and feels that the professor is making other parts because he doesn't think the head is good enough. He is worried that the professor will not like him as much when the other parts are made and refuses to help. He refuses to do anything. The professor is very upset and when the head chooses to not function. They talk and the head realises that unless he functions in the way that he was created to function, then he is useless. So they begin to work together and the head realises it is much better to be useful than to wither away in self pity.
