He was trying to do an honorable thing for his God and his people. The task seemed impossible and I'm sure there were many times when he wanted to quit. Although he was a servant to the current king of Persia, the king gave him permission to go back and build the wall. Nehemiah faced obstacles like being ridiculed in public, plans of attack, lack of food and money, people complaining, schemes to kill him. Nehemiah put guards around the wall and kept on working. The wall was completed in 52 days and they celebrated. No matter how tough it got he didn't give up.
