Aim: To teach the children that God’s wants us to do our best, no matter where we are coming in the race.

Conditions were harsh and there was a real possibility of death. He writes to the Church encouraging them not to give up and to do their best whatever the circumstances. He talks of the difficulties he has been through and still seeks to find the good things that God has done. He even suggests that to die would be a gain, for then he would be with God. Children today often live with difficult circumstances and to give up is a very real option. The hope that Paul shows is that if we simply do our best, there is a reward in heaven for us and while we are here we are never alone. He encourages us to all work together and to beware of those around you who will try to discourage you. Sometimes it’s all we can do, but it is worthwhile if we can push through the difficult times.
