Although he was very rich and powerful, these things never seemed to matter too much to Daniel. He was a man of principals, and standing strong on those principals, got him to where he was. A principled man will always be in the firing line of those that want to cut him down. That's when conflict can arise, and Daniel had plenty of that. Many of us will never ever have to face conflict that means our life is in danger, but Daniel did many a time. During conflict Daniel was able to stay true to his beliefs and God always honoured that conviction. He didn't stand and fight, he didn't rebel and make a fuss, he didn't give in, and he stood silently strong and took the consequences. It is a challenge to us all; many of us would rather give in or avoid conflict at any cost. Many children today use violence as the first option. Daniel had all those options, yet stood strong and didn't back down on what he believed.
