Aim: To teach that there is no greater expression of love for someone than to die for them. To teach the children that we can be an example for Christ by the way we love others.

Show More We have looked at many qualities of Jesus over the past weeks, and when we come to the subject of love you can’t go past the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made, because of love. Jesus went silently through the whole experience with very little expression. He knew that this was what he was to do to please his father, and that it was the only way mankind could be saved. Only his death would make a difference. It was the only way for mankind to be redeemed. As Jesus was dying on the cross, at the point when the sin of the world fell upon Him and God turned from him, because God cannot look upon sin, it was more than Jesus could take. He withstood the beatings and remained strong at the mock trials, but to be no longer in God’s presence, to be out of communication with his father, the one he loved more than anyone, was so terrible that he cried “My God, My God , why have you left me !” The choice Jesus made to go through all that pain and sacrifice for “you” is an example of true love. We may never be asked to make that sacrifice for someone, but if we ever were I wonder whether we would do it. Then three days later when Jesus defied death, a new history began and a new opportunity for every one began
