To teach the children that it is important to take time out to be with God. To teach the children that we need to know who in this world we need to listen to.

1 Kings 19:4-10

God begins the fourth commandment with a positive statement - “Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy” but also adds that we should not do any work. God chose to use himself as an example to highlight a maintenance plan for mankind. He didn’t need to rest on the seventh day in Genesis, but rather wanted to show us by example that we need to. Labor is a very good thing but it’s not the only thing. God told us 4,000 years ago what production analysts have only recently found. Doctors tell us that workaholics bring upon themselves many illnesses that could be cured by resting. But there is more to the Sabbath than resting and that is to spend time with God and rest in other ways. God wants us to honor the Sabbath by refraining from work, focusing on worship and engaging in things that are positive for our physical and emotional and spiritual renewal. Now that’s not asking too much is it! Elijah had just been a part of a very tiring experience with the prophets of Baal. Although it was a very positive experience it was very tiring in every way. It was very natural to run away and sleep in a cave. And God was there to give him the strength he needed to continue.
