Being Equipped for the mission

This resource provides you with a lesson plan, songs, group challenges, drama and a life application. You will be provided with extra materials, videos, power point presentations to help you present this message to the children in a professional and contemporary way. There is the option of teaching all the 10 lessons that build upon each other or teaching a one off stand alone lesson. Choose the resources that best suit your situation

Aim: To teach the children about the tools that God provides for the mission.

Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 12 / Galatians 5: 22-23 – Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit.

Show More 1 Corinthians 12, talks about the importance of all the Gifts of the Spirit. The Gifts are not for private individual enrichment, nor for rivalry or jealousy, but for the benefit of all. Some gifts are more spectacular or seemingly exciting; however all are of equal value. Corinthians also talks of these gifts in the context of a “Body”. It is important to see that the only way to have unity is to find our gift (our place) in the body of Christ and serve accordingly. Galatians 5: 22- 23 talks of the Fruit of the Spirit. There is a difference between the fruit and the gifts. The Fruit is given to all who serve in the mission as tools for living in a new way.

You Will Need: FOR TEACHING TIME: 8 Pieces of fruit - with the fruit of the Spirit words placed inside on the fruit (plastic coated), Knives to cut fruit and help with kids cutting the fruit. (Have it pre-cut and stuck together if you don’t want to use knifes), Big Gift box with a lid – and the props inside: Hat, Book, Boots, Medicine bag, Hands, Sunglasses, Megaphone Mouth, BIG ears, A Bright T-shirt. (All need to have word written on them or stuck to them). FOR SMALL GROUP TIME (THE MISSION): Plain small rocks for the kids – Either enough for all kids to have 9 each or just a few, Textas to write on the rocks, Lolly bags
